Your eloquence is not only beautiful but moving:
in Barre-Warre
‘the names still echo in the dunes like prayers’
Although I’d already read ’47 Alison Street’ back in the day
I can see again
Eualaiie’s ‘students’
piano-ed hands’
and then
“Celeste in
wedding ivory satin
step light of foot
into Alison street in 1938.”
And “Night” is a masterpiece of imagery:
“Birds fold themselves up
Like faded Christmas cards”
“Clocks speed up their complaining
Cars creep towards home
Fog like a smokers’ cough”
