June 16th 1938 – July 7 2014
“The service for my dear brother was held in Sydney on July 10th at the Macquarie cemetery, North Ryde and attended by many friends.
In late October or early November a service will be held in Adelaide for his friends and family there.
At his service my partner Stephen read this very apt poem from the French poet Paul Eluard:
‘Despair has no wings
No more than love has,
No face,
They do not talk,
I do not move,
I do not look at them
I do not speak to them
But I am truly alive as my love
and as my despair.’

On November 15th 2014 we brought Michaell’s ashes back to Adelaide for a memorial service with family and friends.

Hi John,
Thought I’d keep sending thru BTE since Yahoo seems to have gone wacko!
Thanks for your last couple of postcards via pigeon mail- ‘Sidmouth’ just arrived.
And I’ve cross-referenced it with pix on your blog 🙂
Enjoying following your travels and whetting our appetite, coz we’re headed to
Ba’thth’elona in July next year- so I’ll be picking your brains.
I’m unwinding in the second week of school hols, after delivering my 17th ‘last day
of term’ sportsday in a row! Weather getting better – jealous of your Indian Summer’.
Starting to hit the beach again; just avoiding frostbite in the brine- zing!
Looking forward to chatting after your jetlag. Ola to Stephen.
Cheers
Terry
Condolences to you John on the passing of your brother.
We are all thinking of you.
Your students from your U3A creative writing class.
Hi John
I am sending love to you and Stephen at this very sad time. I am so glad you were able to spend time with Michaell last weekend before he passed over. Hilton and I have enjoyed many happy times with Michaell and Khryssoula over the past 20+ years that we have had the pleasure of knowing them. We have journeyed together in Sydney, Northern NSW and Queensland. I will miss him and always hold him in my heart. Love Norma xx
Dear John and Stephen, we send you our deepest sympathy. May he rest in peace.
John, thank you for introducing me to Michaell and his wife. His gentleness, thoughtfulness and sensitivity will live on in my memory. Sending love and condolences to his family and friends.
