On August 8th I visited Torquay Books on the Surf Coast for ‘Love your Bookshop Day’ and had a ‘Conversation’ with author ELIZA HENRY JONES whose debut novel In the Quiet was published in 2015 and shortlisted for the Readings Prize for New Australian Fiction, the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards and was longlisted in the Indie Awards and ABIA Awards. Her second novel Ache has recently been released. It’s a story spanning four generations of women against the background of bushfire trauma and our discussion covered the impetus for the story, the process and whether her training as a grief counsellor helped or impeded the creative development of the story.
