August 31st I met up with UK writer Patrick Gale at the Melbourne Writers Festival after his session discussing his latest novel ‘A Perfectly Good Man’ (his 14th!). Despite the enthusiasm of crowds of schoolchildren visiting the Ian Potter gallery at Federation Square in the background we managed to discuss the unusual structure of the novel, gardening and what it means to be a gay writer.
